You may be aware that WOW have been fortunate in entering the Royal Western Yacht Club, Eddystone Pursuit http://www.eddystonepursuit.org/ which is one of our main fund raisers to keep WOW sessions running and to offer an extended programme throughout the year. The pursuit covers 26 Nautical Miles out to the area of the Eddystone Lighthouse and back to Plymouth. Last years race was quite demanding due to the direction of the wind and a great effort was conducted by all those involved taking over 7 hours to try and get round the course.
The pursuit is handicapped to class of craft and a sponsorship ladder with maximum points given when £500 is raised. This helps in moving the craft up the ladder and gaining a larger share of the donated money to the race. The evening of the race there is a prize giving at the RWYC and all are invited to attend.
A sponsorship form is available to download, because click on link below. If you feel that you could raise some money to support WOW then this would be appreciated. If you cannot print the form then I will have forms available every Wednesday. No amount is to small and every penny will go back in to supporting the sailing aspect of the club.
The pursuit is on the 17th or if the weather is not good on the 18th July. If you would like to take part then please could you either email me wowsailing@hotmail.co.uk or have a chat with any of the committee on Wednesday nights. The pursuit, which is sailed in the Hawk 20, is a enjoyable challenge which could take up to 7 hours to complete and young adults from the club have completed the race in previous years. If this might be to much time at sea for you then the weekend before we are entering the Yealm Passage Race from Plymouth to the Yealm Yacht Club which should take as long as a Wednesday evening session.
Thanks for your support.
